This color for this shot was directly out of the camera. I only tweaked the contrast.

Many photographers think you need a fast camera to achieve a shot like this. It's all about timing, location and setting the image up correctly in the camera. It is also wise to have a camera without shutter lag. That is why I use a Nikon D3.
You make a good case for being in the right place at the right time. The way the lighting is in front or within the tree means you were rather close (maybe a little too close for comfort). jswis
